Islamabad, Jan 18: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a National Assembly session Monday afternoon, Geo News reported.
The president summoned a session of the lower of Pakistan's parliament on the advice of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf Jan 21, a President House release said.
The session, to be held at 4 p.m., will deliberate on the political situation prevailing in the country.
The country has been witnessing massive turmoil in the wake of Pakistan-born Canadian cleric Tahirul Qadri's protest along with tens of thousands of his supporters near parliament in Islamabad to seek dissolution of parliament, ouster of the government and a corruption-free country. The protest was called off after three days Thursday night.
The Supreme Court order to arrest the prime minister and 15 others, including senior officials, in a corruption case added to the uncertain political situation.
