Shanxi Province, Jul 4: A four-year-old girl was successfully rescued from a 10-meter-deep dry well on Monday morning in Xiaoyi City, north China's Shanxi Province.
The girl fell at about 09:00 into the well, which was only 50 centimeters in diameter, at an abandoned construction site in a village called Liuyi.
Firefighters erected a tripod that allowed a thin rescuer to climb down into the well to rescue the girl.
As the well was too narrow to allow two people to pass through its mouth at the same time, the firefighter decided to fasten a rescue rope to the girl and helped her wear a safety helmet before the rescue team slowly raised her from the bottom of the well.
A medical team immediately treated the girl and found she just had minor scratches and bruises after she was brought back to the surface.
Firefighters then sealed the well with wooden planks and slates.
Parents of the little girl said they failed to take care of their daughter carefully when they were collecting recycled materials at the construction site. They did not know that there was a dry well there.
