Bogota (Colombia), Jul 20: A three-year-old Colombian boy was pulled out from a sewer in a dramatic rescue operation after he went missing for more than 18 hours.
Jeampier Silvera Arteta disappeared on Tuesday while playing on a building site with his brothers.
His family complained about the incident to officials on Tuesday night and rescue teams searched the neighbourhood in Barranquilla, including the drain system, but could not find the boy.
On their second attempt, they found Jeampier down the drain in neck-deep water.
"It was an intense search. Thank God we found the boy in one of the sweeps of the area. We had already searched the sewers the first time and we hadn't found him," civil defence member Herson Montenegro said.
"Thank God the second time we searched, the boy was there. He was close to being swept into a hole in the sewer."
It is believed Jeampier's siblings did not see or hear him fall down the sewer.
