New Delhi: Aircraft hijackings have almost come to an end after countries across the world have tightened security checks at major airports.
A time there was, during the Sixties, Seventies and Eighties when airlines hijacking was rampant, and it reached its zenith during the 9/11 World Trade Centre bombings.
Here is a list of ten most dangerous air hijacks in world history:
1. El Al Flight- 426- July 23, 1968
On July 23, 1968 the plane was diverted to Algiers. Twelve passengers and a crew of ten members were held as hostages. Ten women and children were released after a weeklong.
This attack was made due to a demand to release of 16 convicted Arab terrorist. After few weeks every hostage was released in exchange of the 16 terrorist.
The hijackers were the member of PFLP (Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine) group.
