Cairo: Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahalb has said the government would not comment on the judiciary, following Hosni Mubarak's acquittal, as some political movements called for protests against the verdict.
"The government fully respects the separation of powers principle, yet some people are trying to drag the country into chaos," the prime minister said while addressing a press conference Tuesday, MENA news agency reported
An Egyptian court Saturday dropped the charges against Mubarak over the killing of protesters in the 2011 revolution.
The 86-year-old former leader, who has been held at a military hospital and appeared in court on a stretcher, was cleared of conspiring to murder 239 protesters in the 2011 revolution.
