Damascus: Syria's Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi Wednesday said that Syria would surprise the "aggressors" in case of a US-led military action, media reported.
"We will surprise the aggressors with victory as we did in 1973 October war," al-Halqi said, Xinhua reported citing a state TV report.
He charged the Western countries of "fabricating false scenarios for military intervention in Syria".
The US and its allies are considering launching strikes on Syria in response to deadly alleged chemical attacks last week in eastern Ghouta in the countryside of Damascus, which claimed hundreds of lives.
The Syrian government and opposition groups have traded accusations about the use of chemical weapons. Syria has allowed an access for UN inspectors to probe the use of chemical weapons in eastern Ghouta.
According to media reports, four US Navy destroyers armed with land-attack cruise missiles are positioned in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. All four warships are equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles allowing the Pentagon to act rapidly if a military strike is ordered.
