New Delhi: The former South African President died on December 5 at the age of 95.
"There is no easy walk to freedom anywhere, and many of us will have to pass through the valley of the shadow of death again and again before we reach the mountaintop of our desires". These were the words said by revolutionary leader Nelson Mandela.
He was the follower of Mahatma Gandhi's teachings.
Mandela first visited India in 1990.He had a very good connection with the India and Indians here.
The leading bollywood personality Amitabh Bachchan claims to be his big fan.
Amitabh recalled his meeting with Mandela and posted in his blog
“Nelson Mandela or ‘Madiba' as he is fondly called lies critically ill in hospital in South Africa. What a man? I have met him on two occasions in his country. A most gentle, but determined human, the likes of which can be rarely found.
“He fought for what he felt right and even though he was confined to a prison for almost 28 years, he came out victorious in the end. That part of the apartheid in SaF shall always remain a sore and ugly reminder of the humiliation and sufferings of another human, purely because of his colour!,”.
