New Delhi: In an unfortunate incident, at least 717 pilgrims died while another 863 were wounded in a stampede during the stoning of Satan at Mina.
As per the latest update from Indian Consulate officials in Jeddah, 4 Indians were among those killed in the Mecca stampede.
The footage of the incident shows Hajis breaking the security wall towards the way to Meena which lead to the instant stampede at the scene.
Initially, the procession was peaceful but then a small mistake from the people transformed into a deadly incident that killed more than 700 people.

Mina is where pilgrims carry out a symbolic stoning of the devil by throwing pebbles against three stone walls.
It also houses more than 160,000 tents where pilgrims spend the night during the pilgrimage.
