London, Oct 16: British Prime Minister David Cameron has admitted that military action in Iran cannot be ruled out.

Cameron said if a fresh round of sanctions fails to halt the rogue state's nuclear programme, then “nothing is off the table”, Daily Express reported Tuesday.

The British prime minister's intervention came Monday night as European Union foreign ministers meeting in Luxembourg agreed a further tightening of existing financial, trade and energy sanctions.

Cameron said: “We need the courage to give these sanctions time to work. But let me also say this, in the long term, if Iran makes the wrong choice, nothing is off the table.

”A nuclear-armed Iran is a threat to Israel, and a threat to the world. This country will work unwaveringly to prevent that from happening.”

Speaking at the United Jewish Israel Appeal in London, Cameron also cautioned Israel against launching military action against Iran.

But Cameron said he would not tolerate a “nuclear-armed Iran”.
