Cairo, July 3: Airport officials say a travel ban has been issued against the embattled president and the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood.
The officials said on Wednesday that the travel ban on Mr Morsy has to do with his escape from prison with more than 30 other Muslim Brotherhood during the 2011 uprising against autocrat Hosni Mubarak.
Also banned from travel is Brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie, his deputy Khairat el-Shater. The opposition accuses them of calling all the shots during Mr Morsy's year in power.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
An ultimatum by the military for Mr Morsy to meet the demands of millions of Egyptians calling for his ouster expired at 5 p.m.
