6- Harkat-ul-Mujahideen:
Harkat-ul-Mujahideen- al-Islami is another Pakistan-based terrorists group involved in anti-India activities operating primarily in Kashmir. The group also has links with Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda.
HuM has been designated as a terrorist organization by the United Nations, India, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Major attacks:
1- The group is responsible for several insurgent activities in Kashmir
2- The group was involved in hijacking of Indian Airlines Flight 814 commonly known as IC 814. The Indian government freed its leader Maulana Masood Azhar in exchange for the passengers
7- Al Umar Mujahideen (AuM)
Al Umar Mujahideen was formed in December 1989 by Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar, with a membership primarily drawn from recruits in Srinagar. It was a breakaway faction of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF).
Zargar alias Latram was one of the three terrorists released on December 31, 1999, by the Indian Government in exchange for the passengers of the hijacked aircraft IC 814 at Kandahar in Afghanistan. Zargar has since then been based in Pakistan.
Major attacks:
1- Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar was responsible for the kidnapping of Rubaiya Sayeed, the daughter of the then Minister for Home Affairs India Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
2- There are at least three dozen murder cases registered against Zargar in Srinagar, including some high-ranking Indian officers.
3- The group is responsible of attacks on several bureaucrats and politicians
8- Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan
The group was formed shortly after then Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's bloody siege of the Red Mosque in 2007 where a number of militants were killed. A militant leader Baitullah Mehsud brought a number of smaller militant groups to form a coalition under the banner of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
The group has major influence in Federally Administered Tribal Areas along the Afghan border in Pakistan. TTP's preferred targets are Pakistani state and NATO-led forces in Afghanistan. The group's objective is to enforcement of their interpretation of sharia and aims to install a caliphate in Pakistan.
Major attacks:
1- 2012 attack on Nobel Peace Prize winner activist Malala Yousufzai
2- 2009 attack on army headquarters in Rawalpindi – 17 killed
3- 2010 attacks on two Ahmadi Mosques in Lahore – 100 killed.
4- 2008 Marriott bombing
5- Attacks on a naval base in Karachi and the army headquarters in Rawalpindi
6- Attempted attack on in Times Square in USA
9- Lashkar-e-Jhangvi
The group was born of Sipah-i-Sahaba, a hardline political organization and took the name of SSP's founder Haq Nawaz Jhangvi. The group's major target has been the Shia community and they have attacked Shia societies, mosques and even an Irania Shia diplomat. The group's chief Malik Ishaq, along with his two sons, was recently killed by police in an encounter in Pakistan's Punjab province.
Major attacks:
1- Series of bombings in Quetta in 2013 killing hundreds of Shias.
2- A bombing at Abu Fazal shrine in the Murad Khane district of Kabul on 6 December 2011 killing 59 people.
3- In March 2002 LJ members bombed a bus, killing 15 people, including 11 French citizens
4- Several attacks in Balochistan area over the years targeting Shia community
10- Afghan Taliban
The Taliban rose to prominence during the civil war that engulfed Afghanistan after the Soviets withdrew in 1988. The Afghan Taliban eventually took over the country in the '90s and ruled the country until the US coalition forces attacked it in 2001. The group imposed a strict law of oppression and public beheadings in the country.
Taiban is still active in most part of Afghanistan and has strong presence in border towns of Pakistan. The US as well as Afghan president Hamid Karzai both accused Pakistan of funding, training and supporting the Taliban.
Major attacks:
1- The group was in all out war with NATO forces in 2001.
2- The group's activities still threaten the Afghan
3- Responsible for attacks on Indian and American diplomatic missions in Afghanistan
4- Responsible for several kidnappings and execution of foreign nationals
