New Delhi: That Jesus Christ was married to Mary Magdalene and had fathered two kids has been claimed by Professor Barrie Wilson and documentarian Simcha Jacobovic in their upcoming book “The Lost Gospel”.
After spending years for translating a 1500 year old manuscript, the duo has claimed that Jesus married Mary Magdalene, a prostitute, and had two children from her. The Aramaic-language text was first kept in British Museum and then shifted to British Library.
The book, on the basis of the manuscript, further claims that Virgin Mary was none other than Mary Magdalene herself and she was Jesus's wife and not his mother.
According to a Fox News report, the book also claims that Jesus was not crucified, but instead raised a family.
“Before anyone gets his/her theological back up, keep in mind that we are not attacking anyone's theology. We are reporting on text," the authors told The Times.
Barrie Wilson is a professor of religious studies at Canada's York University while Simcha Jacobovic is a Canadian-Israeli screenwriter and documentarian.
In fact, “The Lost Gospel” is not the first book to have claimed that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene. Dan Brown had made the same claim in his book "The Da Vinci Code". In one sense, the manuscript has vindicated the claims of Dan Brown.
The publisher, Pegasus , has planned a press conference tomorrow when they will make further revelations.
