Kabul: At least six Afghan soldiers were killed and 12 injured on Thursday when a suicide bomber targetted a bus carrying army personnel on the outskirts of Kabul.
According to a Defence Ministry statement, the attack took place in Tangi Tarakhil area, Xinhua reported.
The police said the casualties are likely to increase.
The Taliban militant group spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack in a message sent to the media.
"Around 7:15 am, a suicide bomber on foot targeted a bus of Afghan Army soldiers in Tangi Tarakhil area of Kabul city," he was quoted as saying by Xinhua.
Kabul has been hit by a spate of deadly attacks in recent weeks.
