Karachi: The Sindh Provincial Assembly today passed a unanimous resolution against cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan for allegedly terming Sindhis as “slaves”.

The assembly unanimously approved a motion introduced by Education Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, days before Imran is due to hold a public rally in Larkana, stronghold of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

“This house appreciates the brave struggle of the valiant people of Sindh under the dynamic leadership of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto for the promotion and protection of democracy and the supremacy of constitution, and condemns the abusive language used by Imran Khan,” Khuhro said.

Imran, head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has repeatedly said his first major rally in interior Sindh would mark a new beginning for the poor peasants and oppressed people of the region.

His rally is due on November 21.

Lawmakers from the ruling PPP and opposition Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) criticised Imran for his constant criticism of everyone and demanded an apology from him.  Imran had recently said he would stand with the oppressed Sindhi population who he alleged were being treated as slaves.
