A state of emergency was introduced in parts of Russia's Voronezh region after a Ukrainian drone attack sparked a warehouse fire, the governor of the western region bordering Ukraine said on Sunday. "There were no casualties," Alexander Gusev said on the Telegram messaging app, adding that some residents in the Podgorensky district of the region were being evacuated. "Detonation of explosive objects continues."

Later in the day, Ukrainian drones hit a munitions depot inside Russia overnight and there was a "high chance" of explosions at Russian military-industrial sites in the near future, a security source said. The source, who asked to remain anonymous, told Reuters the 9,000 sq. metre munitions storage facility was in the Russian region of Voronezh, which borders a chunk of northeastern Ukraine occupied by Russia since 2022.
