Kuwait, June 13 : Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi met Indian doctors, professionals, businessmen and representatives of Indian bodies here to hear about their problems on Saturday last.
The occasion was a reception accorded by Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Satish C Mehta.
Chairman of Indian Business Council in Kuwait S. Wadhawan, while welcoming Rahul, put forth demands for construction of a temple for prayers and a cremation ground for the Indian community in Kuwait.
Wadhawan said, the Indian community needed land for setting up an Indian community school and an Indian cultural hall.
Dr Sageer Thrikarippur Nampoory, chairman, Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association, told Rahul Gandhi that some of the Indian educational degrees at not being recognized by Kuwaiti authorities.
He requested him to raise the issue with Kuwaiti officials. Nampoory said, the role of Indian doctors in Kuwait has been lauded by many Kuwaiti nationals.
Rahul Gandhi met the Amir of Kuwait, the Prime Minister, ministers and a large number of Kuwaiti MPs. Gandhi assured the Indian community that he would try to solve the issues brought to his attention.
