PM Modi in US: Productive first day as he meets Kamala Harris, Japan and US counterparts, global CEOs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga in Washington D.C. The Prime Minister a while ago held an hour-long meeting with US Vice President Kamala Harris.

"I welcome India's announcement that it will soon be able to resume vaccine exports. It is particular note & admiration that India, I'm told, is currently vaccinating approximately 10 million people a day as of today," US Vice-President Kamala Harris said.

Meeting VP Kamala Harris in D.C., PM Modi said, "your election as Vice President of USA has been an important & historic event. You are a source of inspiration for many across the world. I am confident that under Pres Biden & your leadership our bilateral relations will touch new heights."

The vibrant and strong people to people connections between India and the US is a bridge between our two countries, their contributions are prasieworthy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Washington DC.

"I express my gratitude to the US for extending a helping hand to India when India was hit by the second wave of COVID19," said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Washington DC.

"India and America are natural partners; we have similar values, geopolitical interests, and our coordination and cooperation is also increasing," said PM Modi in Washington DC as he meets Vice President Kamala Harris.

"We had COVID-19, the kind of crisis and importance of our shared belief in a free and open Indo-Pacific region. On COVID-19, our nations have worked together. Early in the pandemic, India was a vital source of vaccines for other countries," US Vice-President Kamala Harris said.

When India experienced the surge of COVID in the country, the United States was proud to support India in its need & its responsibility to vaccinate its people, said US Vice-President Kamala Harris as he meets PM Modi in D.C.

Delivering a joint statement, US Vice President Kamala Harris said, "I know that India takes the issue of climate crisis seriously. We believe that the US and India working together can not only have a profound impact not only on the people of our nations but the world."

Post his meeting with CEOs of five global companies, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the business heads appreciated India's reform trajectory.

"Through the morning, had extensive discussions with top CEOs and business leaders on investment in India. They were appreciative of India’s reform trajectory. Closer economic linkages between India and USA benefit the people of our nations," PM Modi tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met his Australian counterpart Scott Morrison in Washington D.C. ahead of the first in-person Quad meeting to be hosted by US President Joe Biden.

It was the first meeting between the prime ministers of India and Australia since the AUKUS (Australia, the UK and the US) security partnership was unveiled last week by US President Biden, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Morrison.

US Vice President Kamala Harris meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the White House on Thursday afternoon is a coming of age moment for the Indian diaspora, a prominent US newspaper in her home state has said on the eve of the historic meeting between the two leaders. Harris, 56, is the first-ever Indian American to be elected as the vice president of the United States. Harris is scheduled to meet Modi on Thursday, making history as the highest-ranking Indian-American to welcome the leader of a country that is becoming one of America's most important allies, The Los Angeles Times newspaper said. The Prime Minister travelled to the US on the recently-inducted custom-made Boeing 777 aircraft. Biden will host PM Modi at the White House on September 24, this is going to be the first in-person meeting between the two leaders after Biden took over as the US President on January 20.
