Washington, May 22: A portrait of Ghadar Movement leader Kartar Singh Sarabha was unveiled in the Indian consulate in San Francisco in recognition of his significant contribution towards the country's freedom struggle.

In his remarks, Indian Consul General San Francisco N Parthasarthi said last week that the need of the hour for the community leaders is to work together and strengthen Indian Diaspora and pass on the legacy of the freedom movement to the younger generation.

The unveiling of the portrait was in commemoration of 100 years of the Ghadar Party, which was founded by a group of immigrant Indians in the US and Canada to liberate India from British rule.

Born on May 24th, 1896  in Sarabha Village of Ludhiana district of Punjab, Kartar Singh Sarabha, was actively involved with ‘Ghadar' newspaper.

His valor, sacrifice and values continue to guide and inspire the Indian diaspora.
