Islamabad, July 10: The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan has sacked its central spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan and appointed Sheikh Maqbool as his replacement, a media report said Tuesday.
In a written statement sent to the press, signed by 10 Taliban shura (council) members and which was issued June 25, the outfit announced the removal of Ehsan as spokesman, the Dawn reported.
The statement said the Taliban central council believes that the central spokesman had issued a statement which "may have caused rifts and misunderstandings between the TTP and the Afghan Taliban".
The statement was printed on the letterhead of Pakistani Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud, the report said.
