Islamabad: Pakistan has ruled out the possibility of an ‘immediate breakthrough' in resumption of bilateral dialogue with India.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam yesterday said at a weekly news briefing in Islamabad said that Pakistan wants peace and stability in the region.

Pakistan does not see any "immediate breakthrough in start of talks", she said, adding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had accepted invitation from India in good faith to attend oath taking ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Her statement came days after National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz said India should take an initiative to start the talks.

India called off Foreign Secretary-level talks with Pakistan after Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit held talks with Kashmiri separatists.
