Thimphu: Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay today said his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi's visit to his country was a “success” and the Bhutanese people were fortunate to host the new Indian premier.
“PM@narendramodi visit a success: All thanks to the blessings of our Guardian Deities; leadership of our Kings; good fortune of our People,” Tobgay tweeted.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who accompanied Modi to Bhutan on his maiden foreign visit, told reporters here that India was “extremely satisfied” with the “extremely successful” visit.
Swaraj said Prime Minister Modi gave some new suggestions to Bhutan to boost bilateral relations. A joint statement issued by the two countries noted that the visit to Bhutan by Modi was highly significant as it was his first visit abroad after he was sworn in as Prime Minister last month.
