Dinshaw Petit was a good friend of Jinnah. While taking dinner, Jinnah asked her father on his views about inter-communal marriages. Dinshaw Petit replied that he had no issue with such marriages.
Without any hesitation, Jinnah immediately asked for his approval to marry with his daughter. Dinshaw was taken aback and he refused it bluntly. This incidence ended their friendship.
