He was identified as main conspirator of the 9/11 attacks by the 9/11 Commission Report.
In April 2002 Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, together with Ramzi bin al-Shibh, gave an interview to the al-Jazeera correspondent Yosri Fouda.
They described the preparations for 9/11 attacks and said that they first thought of “striking at a couple of nuclear facilities” in the USA but then “it was eventually decided to leave out nuclear targets for now.
