London, Oct 18: Britain's Manchester city tops in cellphone thefts with more people from the city falling victim than anywhere else in the country.
Next on the list of the 10 worst cities for phone theft was Belfast, followed by Birmingham, Liverpool, London, Glasgow, Cardiff, Portsmouth, Leeds and Sheffield.
Oxford, Exeter and York were found to be the safest cities, Daily Express reported.
According to research by MobileInsurance.co.uk, the most common ways of losing a handset was having it taken from a bag or pocket, with nightclubs and bars being the places where most thefts occur.
John Lamerton, managing director of MobileInsurance.co.uk, said: “Whatever city you live in, it always pays to be careful when it comes to your mobile phone.
”If you've got a particularly new handset that might be desirable to a thief, don't go flashing it about too much.
Bear your own safety in mind too, so that means keeping your phone hidden at times.”
