Following the shootings, Rodger died from a gunshot wound after his car crashed in the Isla Vista community. Deputies are unsure whether or not the 22-year-old turned the gun on himself or the result of a “firefight with police.”
According to the Sheriff's Department, there were three 9 millimeter semi-automatic hand guns recovered from the suspect's vehicle. The weapons were legally purchased and registered to the suspect.
Before the deadly shooting, Rodger posted a seven minute video on his Facebook page titled, “Elliot Rodger's Retribution.”
In the clip, the 22-year-old can be seen ranting about his social life and how he has been lonely for the past eight years, since “puberty.”
He goes on to talk about how women rejected him and how he is still a “virgin.”
