New Delhi: As the US decides to pull back NATO troops in Afghanistan this year, the Afghan Army has been preparing its force to combat the Taliban. These elite forces are being trained under U.S. Green Berets and other allied special-operations troops, to keep Taliban and other militants on their heels as April's national elections approach. Let's watch these in pics: 1. The Afghan government has deployed trained armed personnel in 19 provinces to combat the repeated insurgent attacks in the region. 2. These armed units consist of 10,000 trained personnel. 3. U.S. and international special-operations teams are also helping mentor nine Afghan army commando battalions, including teams of Special Forces, designed to conduct quick operations in insurgent havens. 4. The identities of those who would serve the forces would be kept a secret for national security. 5. The forces in Logar province have been expanded and doing well to maintain security. Last, year commandos of this group had repulsed several group strikes in Kabul. 6. Many women have also joined the group and have been trained. 7. Afghan National Security Forces have irreversibly taken the lead for Afghanistan's security, and educated personnel ready to defeat the enemy in any area of Afghanistan and put an end to their threats and attacks and to bring peace to the area. 8. Members of the elite forces have access to better equipment, facilities and paid well. 9. Fighting against suicide attackers has become the key specialty of the forces. 10. The need for Afghan trained army has been repeatedly in demand ahead of the withdrawal of NATO forces in 2014.
