Beijing: India and China are set to pursue an “ambitious agenda” utilising strategic openings and deal with the unresolved issues in a purposeful manner with a sense of urgency, according to new Indian Ambassador Ashok K Kantha.
“We hope to pursue an ambitious agenda, utilising strategic openings that exist today. In parallel, we will deal with the unresolved issues in a purposeful manner with a sense of urgency,” Kantha said, referring to the efforts by both the countries to resolve the decades-long boundary issue.
Kantha, 58, who took over as Ambassador here this month read out President Pranab Mukherjee's Republic Day speech after hoisting the tricolour here and later addressed the well attended Indian community about the ‘carefully developed a multifaceted partnership with China'.
His comments at the flag hoisting ceremony, outlining India's commitment to pursue “multifaceted partnership” with China, came as there is sense of unease here over Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to New Delhi, where he was Chief Guest at the Republic Day Parade.
