Ramallah: Describing India as a "consistent" friend whose support for the Palestinian cause has remained "solid and strong", President Mahmoud Abbas today said New Delhi has set an example for its other supporters.
"India's support for the Palestinian cause has remained consistent over the decades," Abbas said.
"As a true friend India has often acted on its own in our interest without the need of conveying any message. This has set an example for some of our other strong supporters around the world as well", he said welcoming the newly-appointed Representative of India, Mahesh Kumar, who presented his credentials to the Palestinian President this evening.
"India's support for us has remained solid and strong as ever," he stressed.
The Palestinian leader also appreciated India's pledge to donate USD 4 million for Gaza reconstruction in response to the recovery plan presented by the Palestinian Authority at Cairo International Conference recently.
"India has always come forward to help us in every possible way", Abbas added.
Kumar emphasized on the "time tested" relationship between the two sides pledging to work towards promoting bilateral ties.
