Cambridge: Over hundred students and staff at Harvard University received emails that threatened to shoot them, according to campus police. They received these mails Friday evening from a sender who threatened to kill them today.
The Harvard University police department said it could not verify that the threat was authentic but said it would tighten security around the campus over the weekend.
The campus is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, near Boston.
Boston residents have been on an elevated state of alert since a pair of homemade bombs was set off at the city's marathon in April 2013, killing three people and injuring 260.
University police said they had alerted the FBI and local law enforcement.
Harvard University last year received a bomb threat who was revealed to be a student of the university, trying to sneak out exam papers. The student was later arrested.
