Security cameras captured the woman entering the petrol station in suburban Arundel. The woman greeted the attendant then calmly strolled behind the counter.
“The female had planned the robbery and she immediately went behind the counter and threatened the attendant whilst armed with a knife,” Queensland State police officer Brendan Wiblen said on Australian television.
The woman tried to open the cash register then grabbed some cigarettes. When the attendant resisted, she yelled and lunged at him with a knife. He was then forced to open the cash register, local media reported.
“She made a number of serious threats to harm the attendant,” Wiblen said. The woman then stole a small amount of cash and tried to flee but she was forced to duck as the attendant threw some items at her from behind the counter, before she raced out of the door, according to local media.
Police said the woman took off in a waiting car after her male accomplice filled the petrol tank. “There was a male that remained at the car and we believe that he was aware of what was going on,” Wiblen said.
Police said they're hunting for the two who are thought to be aged in their early twenties.
