Islamabad, Feb 8: At least eight people were killed and 15 others injured Friday when an explosion hit a security check-post in Pakistan's northwest tribal region, Xinhua reported.
The bomb was planted on the roadside in Kaliana area of Hangu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
The explosion destroyed many shops, killing five people on the spot and leaving 18 injured.
Three of the injured died from their injuries after being taken to a hospital.
The bomb disposal squad said it was a remote-controlled device and around five kg of explosives, along with shrapnel, were used.
Security forces later launched a search operation in the area.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
