Coronavirus Updates: June 11, 2020 | As it happened

30 more COVID-19 cases reported in Goa today. The total number of cases in the state is now at 417, including 67 recovered and 350 active cases. 

48 more COVID-19 cases reported in Jharkhand today. The total number of cases in the state is now at 1,599, including 961 active cases, 630 recovered/discharged, and 8 deaths. 

208 more COVID-19 and 9 deaths reported in Telangana today. The total number of cases in the state is now at 4,320, including 1,993 discharged, 2,162 active cases, and 165 deaths. 

18 more COVID-19 cases reported in Uttarakhand today, as of 9 pm. The total number of cases in the state is now at 1,655, including 886 discharged and 16 deaths. 

192 more COVID-19 cases and 4 deaths reported in Madhya Pradesh today. The total number of cases in the state is now at 10,241, including 7,042 discharged, 2,768 active cases, and 431 deaths. 

6 deaths and 238 new COVID-19 cases reported in Rajasthan today, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 11,838. 

440 fresh cases of COVID-19 raise West Bengal's tally to 9,768, 10 new deaths take the toll to 442. 

1,877 more COVID-19 cases and 65 deaths reported in Delhi today. Total number of cases in the national capital is now at 34,687, including 20,871 active cases, 12,731 recovered/discharged/migrated and 1,085 deaths. 

Haryana reported 12 coronavirus deaths, total infections inch closer to 6,000-mark. 

38 deaths and 513 fresh cases of COVID-19 reported in Gujarat in the last 24 hours. The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the state is now 22,067. 

13 officials of Railway Board to undergo home quarantine after an official who had come in contact with them tested positive for COVID-19.

82 fresh COVID-19 cases and 4 deaths reported in Punjab today. The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in the state is now 2,259. 

67 new COVID-19 positive cases including 24 from Jammu and 43 from Kashmir reported, taking the total number of positive cases in the union territory to 4,574.

1 new case of COVID-19 reported in ITBP in the last 24 hours. There are a total of 22 active cases and 194 have recovered till date. 

1,875 COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths reported in Tamil Nadu today. The total number of cases in the state is now at 38,716, including 17,659 active cases, 20,705 discharged, and 349 deaths. 

Himachal Pradesh reported 458 COVID-19 positive cases till now including 179 active cases, 262 recoveries, and 6 deaths.

204 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Karnataka in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 6,245. 

2 deaths and 20 new positive cases of COVID-19 reported in the Dharavi area of Mumbai. The total number of cases in the area is now 1,984 and 75 deaths.

83 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Kerala today. The total number of cases in Kerala is now at 2,244, including 1,258 active cases. There are 133 hotspots in the state. 

Andhra Pradesh reported 182 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours as the overall tally in the state rose to 5,429 while two more deaths were also reported, taking the toll to 80.

250 more COVID-19 cases reported in Nepal taking the total number of cases in the country to 4,614.

Assam reported 34 new COVID-19 positive cases today, taking the total number of positive cases to 3,319.

The government on Thursday briefed media over the COVID-19 situation in India. Here are some highlights from the presser:

• We found that about 0.73% of the population in these 15 districts showed a prevalence of past exposure to infection. It means that lockdown measures were successful in keeping it low and preventing rapid spread.
• The States cannot lower their guard and need to keep on implementing effective surveillance and containment strategies preventing the spread of COVID-19.
• Today, our recovery rate is 49.21%. The number of patients recovered presently exceeds the number of active patients.
• India is such a large country and prevalence is very low. India is not in community transmission.
• Country-wide death report compiled based on States' data. If states take a day or two more in conducting 'death audit' &a change in numbers arises due to it, then, in next 2-3 days numbers are accounted for.
• We have to continue testing and tracing, keep up effective surveillance, implement COVID-19 containment strategies, cannot lower guard.
• India's mortality per lakh population is 0.59, which is amongst the lowest in the world.
• India's cases per lakh population (20.77) amongst the lowest in the world, the global average is 91.67.
• Part II of sero-survey to estimate fraction of the population infected with COVID-19 in containment zones of hotspot cities is still ongoing.
• India's reforms, being acknowledged by rating agencies, are critical elements for higher growth next year
