    Govt relaxes export conditions for N95 masks, medical coveralls

    The government on Tuesday relaxed curbs on exporting of masks and medical coveralls that are mostly used to control coronavirus infections. "The export policy of N-95/FFP2 masks or its equivalent is revised from prohibited to restricted category," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.

    A montly export quota of 50 lakh units has been fixed for N-95/FFP2 masks or its equivalent for issuance of export licenses to eligible applicants, it said.

    Coronavirus cases in Goa

    Goa's COVID-19 count rose by 392 cases to 14,530 on Tuesday, health department said. With nine patients succumbing to the infection, the overall toll went up 157.

    A total of 315 patients were discharged from various facilities in the day, taking the number of recoveries to 11,224, it said.

    Goa's COVID-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 14,530, new cases 392, deaths 157, discharged 11,224, active cases 3,149, samples tested till date 1,84,872.

    Coronavirus cases in Kerala

    Kerala's COVID-19 count crossed the 60,000 mark on Tuesday as 2,375 fresh cases were reported, while 10 more fatalities took the toll to 244, Health minister K K Shailaja said. The COVID-19 tally touched 61,878, while as many as 40,343 have recovered, including 1,456 who were discharged.

    FDC launches 2 variants of Favipiravir in India at Rs 55 per tablet

    Drug firm FDC Ltd on Tuesday said it has launched two variants of the COVID-19 drug Favipiravir under the brand names PiFLU and Favenza. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) had earlier approved the use of Favipiravir, an off-patent, oral antiviral drug that has been shown to quicken clinical recovery in COVID-19 patients with mild to moderate symptoms, FDC said in a statement.

    RBI expects inflation to firm up further in coming months

    Country's headline inflation is expected to firm up further in the coming months largely due to disruptions in food and manufactured items' supply chains, the Reserve Bank of India said in its annual report for 2019-20 released on Tuesday. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said headline inflation picked up strongly during the closing months of 2019-20 and the short-term outlook for food inflation has turned uncertain.

    "Disruptions in food and manufactured items' supply chains could amplify sectoral price pressures, thus posing an upside risk to headline inflation. Heightened volatility in financial markets could also have a bearing on inflation," said the RBI Annual Report 2019-2020.
