India's ambassador to China Vikram Misri interacted with Indian students studying in China and inquired about their well-being.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officers to prepare list of migrant workers from UP stranded in other states. If brought back, the workers will be quarantined for 14 days before being allowed to return to their respective towns and villages.

Dr. Sujeet Singh, Director, National Centre for Disease Control, said that surveillance was primary weapon against India's fight against coronavirus. He said that about 9.45 lakh people are on the surveillance system.

Health Ministry said that rate of doubling of coronavirus cases has reduced. Earlier, number of cases used to become double in just 3 days. Now doubling is taking place in 10 days.

15 new coronavirus cases have been detected in Bihar. This has brought number of cases to 197.

"80 districts across country have not reported Covid-19 cases in past 14 days," said Health Ministry.

Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary of Health Ministry added that 15 districts in the country have not reported a coronavirus case in last 28 days.

Home Ministry has formed 4 more inter-ministerial teams to monitor Covid-19 situation. These teams will go to Ahmedabad, Surat, Hyderabad and Chennai to monitor Covid-19 situation there.

National Green Tribunal (NGT) asked Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) to supervise scientific disposal of Covid-19 medical waste. Additionally, it has asked states and union territories to monitor this disposal.

Singapore on Friday sealed four more dormitories housing foreign workers, including Indians, to prevent the spread of the coronavirus as the number of infections among the country's massive migrant worker population spiked. The city-state confirmed 897 new cases of COVID-19 as of noon on Friday, majority of which were from the dormitories for foreign workers, taking the total number of infections in the country to 12,075.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked his officials to draw up a plan to bring back all migrant workers from the state who are still stranded in other states.

The Gujarat government has started using the rapid antibody testing kits for COVID-19 surveillance in the state, despite the apprehensions expressed in some quarters in the country over the use of these kits.

Around 40 healthcare staff, including doctors and nurses working at the gastroenterology department in AIIMS, have been advised self-quarantine after a 30-year-old male nurse working with them tested positive for COVID-19, official sources said on Friday.

There's some good news coming in during coronavirus crisis. The news is from the French capital Paris where President Emmanuel Macron is to release the exit lockdown plan early next week. Speaking to mayors through a video conference, Macron said that exit from lockdown will be introduced nationally and not region wise. "This would be a huge organisational challenge," Macron said in the video conference. The lockdown in France is set to end on May 11. 

President Macron will, however, meet people from the industries including the hoteliers and restaurateurs. The lockdown exit for these service industries is expected to take a bit longer than others. 

Two COVID-19 patients were discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Chhattisgarh's Raipur city on Friday after recovering from the infection, a health official in Raipur said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephone conversation with Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Singapore on yesterday. The two leaders exchanged views on the health and economic challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

44 fresh cases and three deaths have been reported in Rajasthan today, taking total number of cases & deaths to 2008 and 31 respectively in the State, the State Health Department said.

India TV's Nirnay Kapoor has some worrying news from Ahmedabad. According to the Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner, the number of coronavirus cases in the city is doubling every four days. If the trend does not reverse, by May 15 there would be 50,000 COVID-19 cases in the city. And if it continues, by May 31, there would be almost 8 lakh cases in the city.

Two more death is being reported from Malegaon due to the COVID-19 disease. 65-year-old farmer Kishan Mohan, who was admitted to the hospital on April 21 and diagnosed positive on the next day, today lost his battle to the disease spread by novel coronavirus. Another 37-year-old, Abdul Majid, known to his friend as Mohammed Usman, lost his battle at the Mansura hospital.

A 4-month-old child from Malappuram who had tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, lost her life today morning at Kozhikode medical college. The child was undergoing treatment for heart-related problems for the past 3 months and had pneumonia, Malappuram District Medical Officer said.
