New Delhi: China has unveiled Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport's futuristic new terminal “Terminal 3” to public.
Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport's is located in Bao'an, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.
The modern and elegant design of the terminal is based on a concept of fluidity and combines two different ideas: the idea of movement and the idea of pause.
Stand-out features of the interior design include stylized white ‘trees' that serve as air conditioning vents. The honeycomb-patterned windows in the ceiling allow for maximum penetration of sunlight, reducing energy consumption.
The terminal was designed by Italy's Studio Fuksas to look like a cross between an airplane and manta ray.
Built from steel, concrete and glass, the organic and fluid structure is covered with hexagonal cut-outs to let light filter in and adapt its ambiance.
The construction of the terminal reportedly cost 8.5 billion yuan ($1.4 billion) and is three times larger than the current terminals combined. It has slots for 76 airplanes.
