Washington: US President Barack Obama visited a local bookstore here with his two daughters Sasha and Malia to buy books, including one of the Indian-origin writer Salman Rushdie.
In all Obama purchased nine books.
These included 'Purity: A Novel' by Jonathan Franzen, 'Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights' by Salman Rushdie; and 'Elske: A Novel of the Kingdom' by Cynthia Voigt.
Other books were 'On Fortune's Wheel' and 'Jackaroo: A Novel of the Kingdom' by Cynthia Voigt, 'A Snicker of Magic' by Natalie Lloyd, 'Stargirl' by Jerry Spinelli, 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck, Book 8' by Jeff Kinney and 'Dork Diaries 1: Tales from a Not-So-Fabulous Life' by Rachel Renee Russell.
Obama and his daughters shopped for books in tiny Upshur Street bookstore. He left with a brown shopping bag, and acknowledged journalists with a smile as he walked to his SUV.
After their book stop yesterday, they stopped for ice cream in a nearby D.C. neighborhood.
