Canberra: Australian politician Clive Palmer on Tuesday apologised for insulting the Chinese in an interview.
"I most sincerely apologise for any insult to the Chinese people caused by any of the language I had used during the interview," Palmer said in a written statement.
After receiving Palmer's apology, Chinese Ambassador Ma Zhaoxu emphasised that any remarks attacking or slandering China would not gain popular support and were doomed to fail, reported Xinhua.
Palmer gave the interview to a TV channel.
