Mexico City : Mexican police have found the bodies of five men in an abandoned car in the western state of Michoacan, which has seen a flare-up in violence between drug traffickers and self-defense forces.
Michoacan state prosecutors say the men were shot to death and the vehicle was found Tuesday outside a bar in the town of La Piedad, near the border with Jalisco state.
A prosecutors office statement says the bodies were piled among dirty clothes and plastic boxes. Spent bullet casings were found inside the car.
Prosecutors say they haven't determined a motive in the killings or identified the bodies.
Authorities didn't say if the slayings were linked to fighting over the weekend between the Knight Templars drug cartel and self-defense groups formed to fight the cartels.
