Jakarta, April 18: At least one person died while 41 went missing after a boat carrying some 50 people overturned in Indonesia Wednesday. Rescuers managed to save eight people, Xinhua reported.
The accident occurred in Mahakam river in East Kalimantan province during the afternoon.
Forty one people were still missing at the moment and one female body had been retrieved from the capsize site at Harapan baru village, said an official of National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB).
Due to the lack of passenger manifest, he said, rescuers were facing difficulty in finding out the exact number of people on board the ill-fated board.
Leaks in the boat were suspected to be the reason for its capsize.
