Kabul: Afghan security forces have arrested three Taliban members involved in the abduction of an Indian national in western Afghanistan, according to the Afghan Interior Ministry.
Sediq Sediqi, the ministry spokesperson, said Afghan forces were working hard to secure a safe release of the 47-year-old Indian national.
Reverend Alexis Prem Kumar, the country director of the Jesuit Refugee Service in Afghanistan, was abducted by a group of men on Monday.
He was taken from a school for returned refugees that he was visiting in Sohadat village, some 25 kilometres (15 miles) from the western city of Herat.
A search operation is ongoing, but Sediqi declined to give any further details.
