Kabul, July 21: Afghanistan government said on Saturday that as many as 29 Taliban militants had been killed and 24 wounded in clashes and security operations since Friday morning.
Twenty militants were killed during joint security operations of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and Coalition Forces in the Afghan provinces of Herat, Ghazni, Nangarhar, Khost and Paktiya.
"As a result 20 armed Taliban were killed, 12 wounded and six other armed Taliban were arrested by the ANSF," reported Xinhua citing Afghan interior ministry.
Earlier Saturday, two Taliban fighters were killed and one policeman was injured as Taliban launched an attack against police checkpoint in Chardara district of Kunduz province, 250 km from Kabul, a senior police official said.
Also, seven Taliban were killed and 12 wounded during an infighting in Herat province Friday following collection of extortion from locals in a forest area, local authorities said.
