Lima : A passenger bus plunged off a cliff in the Peruvian Andes early Sunday, killing at least 22 of its occupants and injuring another 31, media reports said.
The accident occurred in the town of Quichuas in the Andean mountain region of Huancavelica, some 400 km southeast of Lima, Xinhua reported citing Peru's daily El Comercio.
One of the injured passengers said the driver was distracted at the time of the crash, as he was talking with a passenger who had boarded en route, the daily said.
The vehicle then veered off the road and plunged some 100 metres over a cliff, it said.
Police and firefighters rescued several passengers, including two minors, from the wreckage. The injured were taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
