World Bank to help Pakistan, India to resolve Indus Water Treaty dispute

The World Bank has said that it is ready to help both India and Pakistan to find a solution to the Indus Water Treaty dispute between the two countries.

World Bank to help Pakistan, India to resolve Indus Water Treaty dispute

The World Bank has said that it is ready to help both India and Pakistan to find a solution to the Indus Water Treaty dispute between the two countries. 

World Bank's Chief Executive Officer Kristalina Georgieva met to Pakistan's Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday and said that finding an amicable solution to the Indus Waters dispute was in the interest of both New Delhi and Islamabad.

Georgieva further said that the World Bank would continue to assist Pakistan with a bigger financial package, including the International Development Assistance program and IBRD.

The World Bank CEO also assured of positive consideration for Pakistan's development needs and higher financial allocations.

Pakistan’s Power Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif underlined the importance of the Diamer Bhasha Dam for his country and requested the World Bank to provide assistance for its development.
