Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ultra-nationalist ally Vladimir Zhirinovsky has warned the people of United States that they should either vote for the Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump or be ready to face an all out nuclear war.
According to a report in ‘Daily Express’, Zhirinovsky believes that Trump is the only person who can prevent an escalation in tensions between Moscow and Washington.
He went on to claim that Hillary Clinton, if elected, could trigger a Third World War, adding that current relations between the two states “cannot get any worse”.
“Relations between Russia and the US can't get any worse. The only way they can get worse is if a war starts,” he said.
"Americans voting for a president on November 8 must realise that they are voting for peace on planet earth if they vote for Trump. But if they vote for Hillary it's war. It will be a short movie. There will be Hiroshimas and Nagasakis everywhere,” he added.
Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who likes to compare himself to the US Republican candidate, said that Donald Trump could win a Nobel peace prize if he can calm world tensions as US President.
“Trump will have a brilliant chance to make relations more peaceful… He's the only one who can do this,” he said.
Zhirinovsky further claimed that Trump will adopt a more isolationist policy and won’t interfere with countries such as Libya or Iraq.
“Trump won't care about Syria, Libya and Iraq and why on earth should America interfere in these countries?” he added.
He described Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton as "an evil mother-in law" and said that her record as secretary of state under Barack Obama from 2009-2013 showed she was unfit to lead her country.
“She craves power. Her view is that Hillary is the most important person on the planet, that America is an exceptional country, as Barack Obama said. That's dangerous. She could start a nuclear war,” he said.
Making a sexist remark, Zhirinovsky exhorted the Americans not to opt for a female president.
"Most Americans should choose Trump because men have been leading for millions of year. You can't take the risk of having one of the richest, most powerful countries led by a woman president.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump have also praised each other.
While Putin praised Trump as a "very talented" leader, the Republican candidate returned the compliment by saying that the Kremlin boss is a better leader than US President Barack Obama.
