Sydney: Parts of world famous Harbour Bridge was lockdown here after a man climbed the famous structure located here during peak hours.
According to reports, the man scaled a 1,149 m, sparking traffic chaos, before being coaxed down by police negotiators and arrested.
The man got out of a taxi in the middle of busy bridge and started climbing up the pillar, reports said.
Interestingly, the area near bridge has its own 24-hour security team since 2002.
This is not the first incident where a man scaled Harbour Bridge. Before this, in 2003 a man was able to climb the bridge the steal the Australian flag.
“We have this person, he's climbed up onto the Harbour Bridge, I can actually see him sitting up there at the moment,” the Traffic Management Network spokesman Ian Wallace said.
He eventually returned to the ground after almost two hours and was then he was arrested by the police officers and taken to hospital for medical assessment.
