US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for talks on bilateral and regional issues.
It is Tillerson's first visit to Pakistan since the new US administration assumed office and the first visit by a senior US official after President Donald Trump announced a new strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia in August, Xinhua news agency reported.
The State Secretary is scheduled to hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Khawaja Asif. He will also meet Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Army Chief Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa, Pakistan's state radio reported.
It would be Asif's second meeting with Tillerson in less than a month.
The two met in Washington earlier this month and had detailed discussions on bilateral relations and regional security situation, including India-Pakistan relations and Afghanistan, according to the Foreign Ministry.
