Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh who is in Pakistan to attend the SAARC Interior Ministers' conference will today call on Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad today.
However, no bilateral talks will be held between Rajnath Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
“There will be no bilateral meeting between Home Minister Rajnath Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan,” Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi confirmed today.
“In the meetings held on August 3, talks between the ministers took place on the issue of terrorism, especially SAARC terrorist offences monitoring test and SAARC drug monitoring test. It was asked from all the member nations to establish these tests at the earliest. India placed three-four proposals and offered technical assistance to STOMD (SAARC Terror Offences Monitoring Desk and SDOMD (SAARC Drug Monitoring Desk)," Mehrishi added.
The Union Home Secretary also revealed that India has offered to host a meeting between anti-terror agencies of SAARC nations on September 22-23.
"India also offered to give trainings in drug control activities and urged the SAARC nations to send their officials," he added.
Tight security arrangements have been made for the visiting Indian Home Minister by the Pakistani government in view of protests being organised against his visit by various outfits including Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) which is headed by Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed.
