PM Modi in Indonesia : 'From $300 billion, India's Foreign Exchange Reserve has crossed $400 billion in last 4 years'

PM Modi will also travel to Malaysia and Singapore to strengthen ties in line with the government's Act East Policy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today began his Indonesia visit by paying homage to martyrs of Indonesian independence struggle as he laid a wreath at the Kalibata National Heroes' Cemetery in Jakarta. Kalibata Heroes' Cemetery in South Jakarta is a military cemetery in Indonesia. It was built in 1953 and opened in November 1954 when the first burial took place. 

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in a tweet: "Lest we forget...Paying homage to martyrs of Indonesian independence struggle! PM @narendramodi laying wreath at the Kalibata National Heroes' Cemetery and signing the Visitor's Book". 

PM Modi later met Indonesian President Joko Widodo for one-on-one talks. The talks between the two leaders was followed by a delegation-level meeting between the Asian nations.

Noting that both India and Indonesia are maritime neighbours and sea faring nations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Joko Widodo issued the Shared Vision of the two countries on Maritime Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. 

The document, the first with any ASEAN country, outlines areas of maritime cooperation and envisages security architecture in the Indo-Pacific region, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.

Prime Modi will also visit Arjuna Wijaya Monument durin his  Indonesia visit. The Arjuna Wijaya Monument is one of the iconic monuments in Jakarta. It is just next to Monas, which is the National Monument of Indonesia. 

The iconic monument depicts the scene of Indian epic Mahabharata where Arjuna and Lord Krishna are in a chariot.

On May 31, on his way to Singapore, PM Modi will make a brief halt in Malaysia to congratulate the new Malaysian leadership and will meet Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. 

In Singapore, Prime Minister Modi will deliver the keynote address at Shangri-La Dialogue, an annual security meet, on June 1.
