Pakistan linked to insurgency by Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar: Report

A report by the International Crisis Group (ICG) has said that the group of Rohingya Muslims which allegedly attacked Myanmar border guards on October 9  is headed by people with links to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

According to a report in The Nation, the report leased by the ICG made these claims citing members of that group.

Nine policemen were killed in October 9 attack which sparked a crackdown by security forces in the Muslim-majority north of Rakhine State in the country's northwest.

The Myanmar government blamed the Rohingya Muslims supported by foreign militants for the Oct 9 attacks and called the assailants "terrorists".

A group identifying  itself as Harakah al-Yakin claimed responsibility for the attacks in video statements and the Brussels-based ICG said it had interviewed four members of the group in Rakhine State and two outside Myanmar, as well as individuals in contact with members via messaging apps.
