New Delhi: To celebrate the 50th anniversary of RSS, Chief Mohan Bhagwat has some special plans. Bhagwat and Joint General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale will be in the United Kingdom on July 31 in UK for the celebrations. If media reports are to be believed, Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio, Sir Richard Branson and English broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough will grace the occasion where the Bhagwat will be the chief guest.
Though the guest list for the event has not been finalised, media reports suggested that the Hindu Swyamsevak Sangh, the organisers of the event, have roped in Leonardo to bring in his superstar power to the anti-beef movement. The Oscar winning actor is a vegetarian and has grown to be one of the influential voices of climate change.
The event is reportedly organised by Hindu Swamaysevak Sangh (HSS) that proliferates the views of the right wing organisation abroad. In February 2015, the HSS was in news, for all the wrong reason though. An investigation was launched after a disturbing footage surfaced where in a teacher made anti- Muslim and Christian remarks at a HSS camp.
Bhagwat, too has made many foreign trips but this one is special as it marks the 50th anniversary celebrations of RSS.
Though both the RSS and Leonardo are supportive of the ban, they are driven by different intentions. While RSS’ call is driven by religion, Leo has voiced concern about animal rights in the past few years.
In September 2015, DiCaprio had executive-produced a documentary ‘Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret’ which premiered on Netflix. It was about animal agricultural practices.

Virgin airlines founder Richard Branson too is speculated to attend the event. Branson in 2015, has announced that he would be setting up a vegan airline.
The report also said that Bhagwat will meet the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby during his stopover for an interfaith dialogue.
The chief who has made many trips to the UK will be attending a two-day Maha Shivir (grand camp) being organised by the HSS on July 30-31. It is expected that the event will see a huge gathering.
“Bhagwat Ji was invited by the HSS, which has been working there for years. It will be the largest gathering of Hindus in the UK that he will address,” a Sangh functionary was quoted by a leading daily.
